Summie Yeung

The Multicultural People's Career Transition Coach.

I can help you choose a career path aligned with your identity
without feeling like a reject or a "cultural cliché".

But firstly, do the following statements resonate?

1.

I don't want to be a "cultural cliché"

"I was meant to be a doctor like the rest of my family - but I didn't want to."

"My parents expect me to be a professional but that did not happen."

"I don't want to confine myself to what I studied."

"My dream was to become an singer, but I don't think my family will approve."

"I want a job with more purpose, but my culture says I should climb to the top first."

2.

I don't want to feel like a reject

"Everyone else is aiming for a promotion, so I thought I should follow."

"I chose a more conventional path because I didn't want to be the odd one out."

"I never knew what I wanted to do; I just wanted a job with security and a good income."

"I want to be different, but at the same time I don't want to be judged by others."

3.

I have some "multicultural issues"

"I'm a first-gen immigrant - I need to meet expectations."

"I don't want to fail my parents who worked so hard for me to be here."

"I have language barriers at work, and the cultural differences that I'm coming across are huge."

"I don't get much support as my family are abroad. It becomes harder to consider a career change."

4.

I want changes in my work

"I don't want to work here, but I don't know where I'd want to jump onto next."

"I think I want a promotion but I'm not sure if I should go for it."

"I want to change roles within my company but I feel nervous about it."

"I'm not sure of my purpose but I want to find it."

"I feel burnt out working in this job, and I'm wondering if I should take a break."

Areas for coaching
The Counter-Cultural Method

If any of the above statements resonated with you, I'd love to invite you to a coaching conversation.

It takes courage, energy, time and investment to go against the tide. If you are considering a non-conventional career change, you will need someone to support you through. Without this, you may find yourself restarting the process a few years later.

Having worked with clients from three different continents, and being in a multicultural community, I have witnessed common themes that hinder people from taking bold career decisions.

Specifically catered for people from multicultural backgrounds, we will use my signature "Counter-Cultural Method" to dig deeper into your cultural context, gifts, identity, beliefs and feelings to help you reach a decision that aligns with your heart and mind.

Why me?

I am an ICF ACC accredited coach with a Diploma in Transformational Coaching with Animas Centre for Coaching. I hold my work to high standards and I work with my coaching supervisor on a monthly basis.

I am a first-generation Asian immigrant in the UK. I have had a few transitions first-hand - relocating without my parents to study in the UK, becoming a mum of two, and quitting my 9-5 job to become self-employed. I also understand organisational and leadership challenges from my experience in corporates.
